Is it a TD04?
I know mine is blown with the "ring ting ting" noise from the external of the engine and the amount of smoke exiting the exhaust - That and the fact it happened all of a sudden with a huge loss of power! Am still running on all four so it's not all bad..
I have a 91 L300 Chamonix Delica - This one pictured in my tiny delica.ca gallery actually..

Anyway, I'm assuming this model had one type of turbo fitted, so which is it? Anyone know?

Re: Turbo for 4D56T engine?
Well it was a TD04. the part# specifically is: TD04-49177-0-S.
The shaft is rooted, and I've lost a bit of impeller(?), I assume whatever lil bits of impeller have been sucked INTO the engine as opposed to blown out of it? It actually looks like the impeller has been ground off as opposed to snapped off, so maybe only little shavings made it into the engine itself - Not ideal, but probably a lot less sketchy being shavings than hunks of metal...
Anyone know if a Mitsi Pajero turbo/manifold/exhaust manifold will bolt straight in from the same engine number (4D56)?

Where are you located ?
Call ADP in Port Kells.
They will rebuild your turbo for you. Unless you know what you are doing and have a balance shaft machine, I would advise against doing it yourself.
If you get a full rebuild, ask them for the larger impeller for a bit extra. More flow = lower EGT = up the boost = more power.

Re: Turbo for 4D56T engine?
I'm in Auckland, New Zealand.
I'm just curious about the Pajero manifold - Matching up the Turbo is no drama, obviously a rebuilt one would be the best bet but I'm sketch on financing that at the moment, so the next best will have to do, even if I just get 20,000KM out of it or so it'll see me through. I also notice a crack in my exhaust manifold as well.
I've found this one on a local auction site - $150, the shaft is spinning nicely with no play and apparently was running fine on the Mitsi Pajero prior to the cambelt snapping and in turn destroying valves etc.. This came off a 4D56T, the turbo is the same and everything looks right except for the manifold which bolts to the exhaust pipe, just a slightly different shape maybe..

There is a little room inside the engine compartment when everything is fitted up, but JC it was a bastard to contort to get out.. I'll take a pic of mine as well now it's on the floor.

I just uploaded a pic of the turbo assembly I pulled out of my van this arvo, I'm not sure how to post it here to view both on the one page.. The pic is a little large anyway, but you can see the different shape manifold - Although they're both relatively the same size by the looks, just a little different.

Now I've actually had a good look at mine I can see one of the "ports" (don't know what else to call it) is blocked off from the factory on the turbo itself - The actual downpipe which connects to the exhaust pipe on the pajero manifold has both these ports which is the discrepancy I'm looking at with the visual difference.
I suppose I can just swap the downpipes out with my original one, I wonder what the other manifold will actually change though?
