3 Car Seats - Best Configuration

Post by mmilotay »

We are expecting our third in a month and a bit, and so I am wondering about the best way to setup three car seats in an L300 high roof Exceed. Right now the van is set up with two front seats, two captain seats (middle), and the folding bench in the back. We have the car seats on the the captain seats in the middle. We're thinking of installing the third on the middle of the bench seat in the back. What I was wondering is if anyone has replaced the captain seats with a bench and installed three car seats across (two forward facing & one backward), or do you have any other suggestions on how to configure the van to haul three little ones in car seats?

Thanks,

Mark

Installing a bench instead of the captain's chairs is not a viable option the tracks and holes in the floor are completely different. I would go with 2 in the middle and on in the middle of the bench, the farther away they are from the sides of the vehicle the better, 3 across a bench puts the 2 on the outside closer to the sides imo.

I have 3 kids, 8 yrs, 5 yrs and 9 mths.

The 8yr old is in the back drivers side in a booster.

The 5 yr old is in the capt's passenger side. She is there as the 10 mth old with his rear facing seat makes it difficult to get in and out of the vehicle, so he is on the drivers side where his seat is out of everyones way. When he hits a year, we will move him back to the passenger side forward facing then his seat won't be protruding in our way. Then the girl will move to the drivers side where she will be able to control the heat and what not for the rear. Hopefully she will gain that 3 lbs and be in a booster. So much easier then.

For teh teethers all I did was remove the capt seats and drilled throught eh base and added the teether hook there. It worked awesome. Also not unsightly at all.

Hope this helps or I could send you pics if you like.
