Hi Ray,
seems like the world is connected via the Delica! can't be bad. I'm learning a great deal from the guys who have been owners/members for some time, they all seem so helpful.
cheers, Steve.

G'day and welcome.

Which van do you have? Must be an L300 or else you wouldn't be cruising our site much. We're only just getting the L400s due to our import restrictions.

Anyway, look around, find what you need or ask those questions you can't get answered, but most importantly: get out there in your van and enjoy yourself.

ok thanks for the welcome
i own a 1984 L300 4wd dual fuel (petrol/Lpg)i can carry around 140 litres of fuel these vans are fairly strong as they have a full chassis which are base on the ute or pajero chassis i got this van about four years ago from a backpacker that was touring here as he cooked the cylinder head so as i am a ex mitsubishi mechanic i found a good second hand head and four years later never looked back it runs well for its age

I love the old school 80's L300's. I am a fan. What petrol engine has it got in it? It's not the 2500cc like mine is it? Its just a 1900cc or something?

Anyhow, welcome to the club. I have had some very kind help from the Aussie forum, its always good to have another keen member.

Not the youngest girl at the ball, but she may just be the sweetest!

I think you just might have the oldest L300 on the forum. Looks like it's holding up pretty good. Welcome.

Cool van. 8-)

Mitsubishi call several different designs "L300". The current L300 is a badge-engineered Mazda. Yours is an in-house Mitsubishi design, it says "L300" on it, but is completely different from the L300 Star Wagon. Dunno...

I watch in the background of Aussie TV shows for interesting vehicles. In one episode of Stingers the bad guys carjacked an L300 commercial and drove it around Melbourne with the cops in hot pursuit, so I got to see it up close. Does this mean I need to get a life?

Hi laura
The only difference between our 4wd and the starwagon of this year is our starwagon had a high roof but the interior of both vehicles remains the same. My model van is based on the pajero/L200 4wd platform because they have basically the same chassis
i have seen people put a high roof starwagon body on a 4wd chassis so that they can have a sun roof but they become top heavy
i dont know if you have seen the early japan tv ad of 1982 on youtube
My van is the same as that. But without the extended mirrors and the ladder rack if you look closely at my photos left hand front window pillow you can see two small plugs at the bottom that is where the extended mirrors go but due to local laws at the time wre not not allowed
Another tv ad you could watch is one i put on youtube a couple of years ago just type in/ mitsubishi L300 tv ad /by oldmits
then you can see the models we got from japan

Hi Ray,

thanks for the YouTube pointers - I've seen the ads for the L300s, and drooled over the D:5 ads. Haven't seen much L400 material, except for the DriveTime TV report.

Is your L300 a unit body or does it have a separate chassis? The Star Wagon is a unit body.

Last time I was in Melbourne I left town to the south, having lunch in Barwon Heads (where the bridge is actually just fine, thank you... 8-) ) before hitting the Great Ocean Road.
