Josh has Gas!

Post by Luna-Sea »

Grabbed Josh From the Ferry this morning and went for a boot up to
CC Autos in Coombs. (stop at Timmy' on the way of course, who doesn't like snacks?)

Arriving there Josh was Elated to see his ride that he has been seperated from for months.

Glen and Darren had Laboured hard on the conversion and gave it a once over for the hundreth time.

in stock Gas models the firewall is shaped somewhat differently)

Come to think of I think Josh had oversize tires on it so those numbers might even be low...

All in looks pretty sweet, were it not to my overcommitment to getting the WVO thing going on mine,
I would have had a nervous breakdown! :-)

So do you think Josh is happy?

What was the point of the conversion? Blowed-up diesel engine?

And, is this a dedicated Delica-driver priced conversion or is it quite reasonable?

Given the weight difference between a gasser and the 4X4 diesel, is there still considerably more pickup than the original 85hp?

Josh can answer most of those,
being the proud driver and all.

But ya its quite a bit more kick
and the kick comes quick.
Quite slick his brick.
Room for a turbo too,
that will be sick.

Oh, you are quite witty,
But your rhyming is...

I'd be interested to see it, but sounds like you're both Mainlanders, so I'll have to wait for a gathering.

Hey everyone, I am back on the mainland so I have access to a computer once again. I have been loving the van. It truly does make a difference.

And props to Glen and the CCautos crew. They did so much, and such great work. As well thanks Luna-sea for shuttling me around and coffee/lunch, I had a lot of fun. I wish I could have stayed longer. And thanks Chewy for shining it up, I am sure that reduces the drag!

I had the engine swaped because I wanted to have a gas one, my wife was to attached to this one, and Glen thought it would be an easier job than it was. My Diesel was in perfect shape prior to the swap, it just lacked power like they all do.

The reasons I wanted a gasser instead:
1) Power.
2) Cost of maintenance. (less major things to go wrong)
mararmeisto wrote: And, is this a dedicated Delica-driver priced conversion or is it quite reasonable?
It is not a conversion anyone else will ever do i think. Its easier and cheaper to get just buy a gasser. It worked out this time for Glen and I but I know it wouldnt be feasible in other circumstance, and I know Glen will NEVER do one again (but feel free to beg him).

Well I dont understand that question? I have way more horsepower in the gas, AND the gas is roughly 150 lbs lighter... so of course it makes a difference.

Anything else? Did I mention that the coolest thing about the gasser is that the pedal has more than two positions? Man I love this van, it truly is the "Silver Bullet"

Super duper shiny... but we ran out of light... so half the van was guesswork. It looks great though. Just a few minor touchups I have to do and a bit of polish. I am thrilled. I think docsavage is going to shake his head at the shinyness... I am giving us northerners a bad name. (so no pics for now, i'll get some soon i think).
