Dual Use

Post by Duke »

I needed to do some work to Duke, not only is he a good off roader and ample people mover, he had to take the place of the truck that I had prior. After a couple of runs to the dump the carpet was pretty much had, even with taking care to cover with a tarp. So the wife and I got to talking over the winter about what we wanted to do for camping this summer (almost 3 week trip to the Yukon and weekend fishing trips). This got me thinking about how to get all the gear in the van organized for camping, take all the crap and yard waste away, and still be a people mover. So this is what I have so far

A start, the cutouts are for the seat slides and the slides are for the camping organizing. They are 3' 100 lbs and 4' 200 lbs slides.

Slides and lino. Ya, I went a little crazy with the stuff. Ordered 6x12 piece and got the roll end 17x12.

And with the sleeping platform installed. Now everything should be out of sight and stored neatly, but with easy access.

All the seats fit nicely in the back and it's super easy to clean out now with that flooring. The next project is the roof racks to support the basket and the 10' awning that we got . I'll put up pictures when I'm done, maybe within the next couple of weeks. :-D

I've already forewarned the wife that it doesn't stop there, 31's, lift...etc,etc...hehehe  :-D
See ya on the trail!!

Really slick setup. I like it a lot. Is that a camo lyno? How much weight will the slide out drawers support?

I like the drawer set up. How much weight do they hold? And I must add the cammo is cool, great for hiding dirt.

They are 3' 100 lbs and 4' 200 lbs slides.
What do you mean "all the seats fit nicely in the back"
You put em in the tray or is that when you take the trays out
after camping?

Super job man,really nice.

Wow that rocks! The Camo doesn't come off as redneck at all 8-) , it fits right in with the Chamonix; 'the all-season outdoor player' edition scheme. Good choice.

Whats awesome about that back slid is the hatch will keep the rain off it, and (this is cool as someone who has spent 4 years and too many nights to count sleeping in a Delica) you can access the storage area without getting out of bed. Just open a door, slid, select, chill, relax, door strap needed for the hatch yes. Slid it out, make a cuppa with getting outta bed, plan the day cozy like, enjoying the view that is such a big perk of Delica camping.......

And would guess your a Lee Valley fan?

Thanks for the comments guys. My wife picked out the gray cammo pattern saying that it would go nice with the grey in the van, I was going to order the green pattern, but then again you should see the way I dress, color coordination is not my strong suit. I ordered a 6x12 piece of lino at $4 a square foot, but got the end roll which measured 17x12, I couldn't complain about that. And yes I am a big fan of Lee Valley, the slides were'nt cheap, (the 3' slide will hold 100 pounds and the 4' slide will hold 200 pounds) but I want this to last for awhile. Like I said I'll post more pics as I get things done.
