Remove AC radiator?

Hi,
I want to remove the AC radiator for the back air condition. As far as I know it is the big radiator where the step is on the passenger side.
We don't need AC in the back and want a better approaching angle without lifting the car.
Anyway, my question is if I remove this radiator will the front AC still work? Are the ACs in the Delica totally independent?
Also is there still hot/cold (outside temperature) air blowing in the back?
How much AC fluid is roughly in this system?

The rad/fan underneath the front passenger footwell is for the entire A/C system.

The front and back are not independent from each other.

Removing that will remove all A/C.

Is it possible to remove 1/2 of the aircon ? ie. air in the back and keep the fronts ?

I'm looking at the motor/blower underneath down the middle for the rear air and have some thoughts of what I'd like to replace it with.

Oh, yes. That is a most excellent question! Can it be done?

Basically, yes it can be done, but there is a bit of a downside to it.....here is part of the PM I sent Jesse earlier regarding ripping out the AC unit from the rear:

"Yes you can remove the rear unit and have the front functioning (but you'll lose ALL blower functions to the rear though) ....I'll see what parts I can get for you and let you know. You basically blank off the high and low pressure feed to the rear unit. You also need to bypass the water feed (hot air) but this is dead simple as very obvious (I can get you a photo if you need)"

So if you are willing to sacrifice the whole rear ventilation system then you can remove the rear AC. You'll also gain space inside because you can do away with the rear heater controls which means you can fot something else in the space.

You will also need to make plates to cover the holes left in the sill panel when you remove the blower/AC etc....but I'll be making some of these in the next few days, so can supply templates to you guys if you wish??

be advised that ALL air in the back is recirculated, there is no outside air input to the rear of the Delica, only the front climate control is capable of taking air from outside.

Thanks guys for your answers. So it looks like we will loose the whole AC, but the rest (cold/warm air) should still work. I'm fine with that (haven't use the AC anyway), but need to discuss it with my second half first :)

Let's say I get rid off this big radiator and leave the rest as it is (piping etc). How much work/money is involved to get the AC working again, if I reinstall this radiator?

I can't remember if you have an auto or manual transmission.

If you have an automatic, then under the step on the driver's side is the transmission oil cooler. So even removing the rear AC system won't gain you approach angle. Only if you have a manual transmission will there not be the second rad under the other step.

We have an auto. It is no problem to move the transmission rad further in. Just need to change the brackets and the rad is hidden behind the body panel. Delicat did this mod and it looked fine.

I am planning on loosing/relocating the front passenger side rad (A/C) to somewhere less susceptible to bangs.

Jesse (parkside) told me you can fit any similar or moderate rad in place of the stock one.

With that said, there is room in the front where you'd normally stick an intercooler just below the bumper stuffed up inside.

You can look for a rad design slim/wide/short and have an a/c shop just extend the lines to there.

That way you keep your A/C and have a nice hole where the stock one was.

That is my plan. When time permits
