Sun Roof Hardware Needed!

Post by daveyboy70 »

Bolts rattled out of the sun roof the other day on the way home from work and missing the ones that come from the outside in at the hinge. Anyone know where one can get some of these?

Is this just a standard bolt for a sunroof? i.e get them at any glass shop that does sun roof installs.

Thanks for the help.

The bolt is likely still lying somewhere in the grooves above the roof and under the glass. It sounds like you lost the "nut".

And for everyone else, check the bolts, they have a habit of coming loose.

See my old post on instructions: http://www.delica.ca/forum/loose-sunroo ... -2084.html and additional comments in http://www.delica.ca/forum/sunroof-question-2318.html

Note that the side windows use the same "nut" as the sunroof, maybe even the same "bolt".

I gave Gumdrop this treatment yesterday. The "missing" bolt and washer were sitting right there, so after removing the trim and the latches, bolted it back together and all is well. Easy!

The trim piece wouldn't come out until I had undone the sunroof latches and could open the sunroof enough to get some extra clearance.

Carefully hidden in plain view in my original post, right under a photo, was "Then removed the screws holding the latches to the glass. This let me open the sunroof wider than usual"

Very simple fix. And with a open-ended wrench you can check the bolts for tightness without any disassembly. Good for fixing it before it falls apart.

That trim piece looks like it should come out, but it doesn't until you remove more bits...
