Oil wars....A good haul

Post by EnviroImports.com »

I had a phone call a couple days ago from someone in Nanaimo who keeps getting aproached by people saying they want their cooking oil for WVO, but they never come to collect the oil, the restraunt changes the oil every 2 days, and its GREAT oil, so we chatted for a while and I said I would come up to pick up what he had as I had to do some deliverys up there and it would work out well for timing. Aparantly the person who has been going and asking about the oil has a Delica and a WVO system. So I starting thinking about the up island people and the Co-op's who come down here to Victoria collecting oil and it reminded me of Whale wars, maybe some of you have seen it.
the constant chasing around for the oil, people are now "liberating" it from drums, containers and such.
but I just have to say that I was really surprised at how bad people are dropping the ball about this all, if a restraunt wants to deal with the wvo / bio diesel guys/gals and is willing to put the oil aside, sometimes even filter it from what im told and then save it for those who want it, Please go and collect the oil even if you just have to give it away to someone else, When the restraunts change the way they do things to help us , It has to be collected, or we all look bad. old oil sitting and collecting will draw Rats, Racoons, and lots of other pests, the restraunts dont want oil sticking around for over a month,
I collected 32 16L jugs of it, Roughly 500L of oil. Most about 90% were Right full to the top, only a few were 3/4 full,
I took a picture of some of the oil here as I was unloading it from my truck.

Im not sure of my point of all this, it could easly turn into a much longer thread, but I would just like to see the people who say they will collect the oil , actually do it.
No Im not going to post the name of the restraunt, since I am going to start a run up there every few weeks to pick up the oil and do parts delivery to the area.

very frustrating, I'm still having a hard time finding a constant source and people have sources and they abuse them, I guess I need to try and find a place like that in vic and offer better service.

I hear you Noel.

A few weeks ago I posted that I found a great oil supply in Vancouver, roughly 175 liters a week of real nice oil (changed everyday). I posted here but although some people were willing to help by picking it up I was surprised that no one was willing to take over the source.

Just to be fair to the restaurant owner who was opening shop and that I had told I'd pick up his oil I ended up giving it to a JDM Toyota guy that I met through Craigslist and we later arranged to build a container for the restaurant to store the wvo and between the two of us (mostly him) the restaurant owner will be alley oil free... Everybody is happy, Toyota guy's got better oil and I have a more oil available if I ever need it.

As for your Nanaimo oil, would it belong to Adam? He's been busy building his new house that could explain it in part?

I wouldent want to say it was Adam as I dont know who was suposed to get the oil, other than they had a Delica and wanted all the wvo for there van , I would rather leave out some of the details as this isent a hunt for anything, but more of a request that if someone will change there buisiness plan to help you/US out then either show up or phone and say sorry I cant do it.

I believe it was the restraunt owners oil, and no one elses until they someone actually showed up to start picking it up, I will be taking care of that from now on and any of his friends that he can get on board , we had a good long talk about bio diesel, had a FREE lunch and now I have a regular reason to go up to Nanaimo and start a more regular parts run.

HOWEVER, if you have a decent source in Vancouver, I have a friend who is always looking for oil, he is trying to run his buisiness vehicles on B100, and is having a tough time getting regular oil in any quantity, Please let me know if you want to team up with him a bit and maybe every one can do a better job and we can keep this going, I HATE the idea of places looking at us as a whole for being un reliable and greif causing, if we can team up and work with each other, we can get ALOT more oil. Ive heated my entire house this winter on Bio Diesel, and this is a 70 year old 3 floor poorly insulated old home.
Let me tell you. if this house was on home heating oil, I would be in a pretty poooooor state right now.
