Mitsubishi Delica L400 production commenced in 1994 -- After much anticipation, the L400 arrived on Canadian Soil in 2009!

Not sure but there are a few poptop fabricators here in the lower mainland that do custom jobs that look like that for Safari vans,VW's etc..

It comes down to cost. I'm sure it's in the several thousand mark.

http://www.gtrv.com (based in Richmond) may do the pop top, so contact them. But it's going to be probably at least $5K for the pop top roof, as they charge around 4.5 K+ for Caravan pop top, which has a similar length but where only the front part of the roof is raised (making it a sloped roof when popped up).

That's super cool.
Jesse, where did you find your delica pop top? I've been looking for quite a while. I have a import partner in Japan who'd also been looking for me, but nothing so far.
Do you know of anyone that has done their own conversion with maybe a VW top?

That's where I got mine from but I ended up picking up their last one (it was the owner's personal Delica) and I was hounding him for quite some time.

I started looking for Reimo pop-top Delica's around 2004 when I saw my first Delica in Australia.

I finally got one and realizing how rare they are (maybe a 1/2 dozen at most in Canada) I'll try and keep it in the family for a long time.

I have a VW westy top off (I'm doing a syncro -> syncro westy conversion) and it definitely does not work on the Delica's.

Very different roof lines, width, length, shape, etc...

I would say that if your contact in Japan can find one for you, then jump on it, as they will appreciate in value because they are rare and very practical (pop top design).

The one up top on the L400 Spacegear was done by a UK camper conversion company.

It can be done (the stand-up pop tops) here in Vancouver but the conversions will run about $4-6,000. To have one with a bed up top like a westy, it may cost more. Since they have not done any L400's here yet, there may be a waiver or something you'd fill out because it's a new design (structural integrity issues,etc...)

I thought it looked familiar, and I recall that they update their page like once a year :-D .

There's a pop-top l300 at silk road right now. The top looks in iffy shape on the inside. It does have a decent skid plate on the front but that's about the only other thing apart from the roof that made it special. It also looked in need of a bit of tlc on the exterior. Also as it's silk road I would figure it is way over priced for what you get.
