gas mileage poor anyone?
gas mileage poor anyone?
hey folks, after driving my new van up and down the island a few times on surf trips, i noticed that the gas per mileage that i'm getting on a full tank on the highway is not all that great for a four cylinder turbo diesel, i realise that those vans are kinda heavy but out of a 50 litre tank, which cost about 50$ to fill up, (the price of diesel is not that great at all these days!) i'm lucky if i get 460 kms averaging 80 kms an hour!! correct me if i'm wrong, but thats horrible! anybody feels the same way or is it just my engine that has a problem? i have to get a new seal on the front of the turbo unit, it leaks engine oil and i'm also planning on doing the timing belt done and while at it, the water pump as well and a good alternator service and clean.. anybody with an idea of how much that would cost me? i would probably get the belt off of MM in nanaimo and get a mechanic to do it, how about a water pump, anybody has a clue where to get one for those vans? anyways, still working all the cob webbs off of that van but all in all, pretty happy with what it has to offer... cheers!

i found that to be about right. 10 litres per 100 km. have you tried injector cleaner?, also check your egr valve to make sure it's working. bigger heavier tires seem to have an impact as well. it seems to me that wvo would solve that pump depression that you are feeling. ask kevin how much it costs to fill his tank.
