Thanks for the responses so far...
So now it's Feb & the 300 should be arriving into Vancouver soon (haven't yet checked with Amazing Auto). After some reading I'm still leaning on the 3... it just looks too dang cool!
The 4's 2.8 is mighty tempting though - although from reading the reader's trips here, the 3s cruise pretty well at around 110 km/hr. Aside from replacing my 2000 Frontier as a daily driver, most I'll ever do with it is take it back & forth between Calgary & Vancity anyways (perhaps some beginner off roading thrown in there, oh and the Oregon coast... perhaps San Fran??).
If my wife & I want to drive at 140-150 kms/hr we'll take her Pilot - or I can suggest that we sell it in a couple of years & buy a 95/96 L400... :-D

Saw my first L400 in person and have to admit; they are far nicer/impressive in person then in pictures. Looked much bigger in person and most importantly less like a Mazda MPV or the Hyundai 2wd version found here (or everywhere but NA). It was a first generation white L400 that was definitely a JDM, with the Crystal lite roof and tires 30” or larger.

I was in chase, with the bike, on the highway at 120-130 and noticed it was much quieter then a L300 at that speed. There are a few 2wd L300 here, with several tricked out to look like Delicas; having only seen one JDM Delica, L300, in Chiang Mai. Must admit the vehicle choices here are far greater then Canada; a few NA vehicles of varied ages plus the choices from Russia, China and India thrown in too. But you do have to be looking for them in a sea of Toyota pickups!

Edit; forgot to mention there are a good number of Pajaro’s around.

Is the fuel mileage comparable to the L300? Also with 1994 being the first year what are some of the issues the L400 faced?

Yes to both.

But the issues being the first year are easily dealt with due to the fact that they've been around in the UK for quite some time and people have ironed out all of the issues/fixes/mods,etc...

The one advantage over the L300 is the L400 drivetrain. It's the same as the Pajero (Japan) and Montero (USA)
