WVO setup in Victoria
Anyone have a WVO filtration system setup here in Victoria that is willing to showoff?
I'm in the process of setting up a system for my work. I have the capital, I have the place to set it all up at...
I just don't know where to start with the filter setup. I'm the type of person who needs to see things in order to do them myself. If anyone is willing to meet up and show off please let me know.
Also, if anyone has a lead on some WVO in the greater Victoria area please let me know that too.
I'm looking to build a system for a few of our fleet vehicles as well as a few staff vehicles. We would be looking to possibly set up a semi-public co-op, but first we just want to get it up and running.

I'll be building my centrifuge filter setup this sat, will post pics maybe video after. As for sources or oil, I hope your not expecting free oil, $2.00 a cube is about the standard I think, you will likely have to go to a place that is selling oil to the big bio producers and out bid them as I think they pay less then that.

Re: WVO setup in Victoria
Thanks guys,
Funny Adam, I've already seen your UTube, I had a look a few weeks ago when I did a search. Helped a lot! I would love to see your set up in person
And Thank you Loki, I would love to stop by once you have it all built if you would have me? ... and if you need an extra hand I would be happy to help.
Because I'm doing this for work I'm hoping for a possible exchange for oil, not that we have much to offer. I assume that you have asked around here on the island? If you have asked around, could I get a list businesses not to bother with? Would that be cool?

Not necessarily true. Things might be different in Victoria, but in Nanaimo, I'm still getting my oil for free. Smaller local restaurants that don't run through more than a few cubes a week are pretty eager just to get rid of the oil.loki wrote:As for sources or oil, I hope your not expecting free oil, $2.00 a cube is about the standard I think, you will likely have to go to a place that is selling oil to the big bio producers and out bid them as I think they pay less then that.

Oh I'm sure there are people getting oil for free (kind of "grandfathered" in), but I really have my doubts that you could find any more free sources, and you may even have to resort to paying a source that is currently giving it to someone for free, but that wouldn't feel right to me.Adam wrote:Not necessarily true. Re: WVO setup in Victoria
the oc-20 from dieselcraft is the one i got and i can say that it is great !!! Once the oil is up to temp start it up and it does the rest !
Just make sure you check your centrifuge after 45 mins. of operation !!!!!!!! I found my jets almost clogged after an hour and the pressure was starting to build up even with the
pressure relief valve !! The most stuff comes out in the first hour so after that you should be fine.
Also make sure your oil is 165-180 deg. first. Centrifuges require high temp oil to work the best..........
anyway i won't take over with info that you might already know.....
cheers isaac....
pm me with any questions anytime...

I am also in vic and wouldn't mind seeing someone else's set up as well if anyone is willing. My wife wants an l400 and with two diesels and the 400's being worse on fuel it seams like a good idea.

Re: WVO setup in Victoria
Sorry Al, the whole thing is still disassembled from my move back in August. I haven't had a chance to build a shed for it and set it up yet, I've been too busy working on the house. I'm hoping to get my L400 back from CCAuto tomorrow, so that will be some added incentive to get WVO shed built. If you are interested in looking at the disassembled pieces you can stop on by, I'll PM you my contact info.

Re: WVO setup in Victoria
Al, you should meet David Delicat in Burnaby (near TardisDeli) to meet him, as his garage is set up to filter wvo (nice simple setup, very clean results), and he converted his deli to run pure wvo. Send him a PM, he is back from his travels now. Christine.

Re: WVO setup in Victoria
hmmm, ive been thinking....
how long would it take to filter 300L of WVO?
just pondering the idea of taking Mr. Freeze's 300L (in Qualicum)off him and filtering it on the mainland... anybody have a filter system on the mainland i could "borrow" for a day?
i would be happy to pitch in for a filter or two!
you guys think i could fit that many cubes into the back of my deli?
might as well make the best of my position here on van island...
