We have one of those big 1000 litre storage containers in our Burnaby back yard (clean, was used for water only), you know those big metal caged plastic containers for liquids, which we got for this very purpose. It is near the back lane, 2 feet above ground level, easy road access to other delica for filling/refueling. But we don't have any filtration system. Open to ideas, mini co-op? We could at least store the new fuel until the filtration system gets going. Just off the Gaglardi freeway exit. Willing to help, Christine.

PS: Welcome to meet at our place Friday or Saturday evening (anytime after 5pm) ... homemade cookies ... (busy with radio class daytime Saturday and Sunday).

I'm up for doing weekly pickup/delivery from/to the restaurant to your place.

A 1000L tote with a 55gal drum + filtration would be perfect.

You can run a mini-coop with that in place and probably make enough coin to pay for the filtration system.

Ideally, you'd need a few 1000L totes and a shed to store them as well as the filtration gears. Adam in Nanaimo had a similar set up that worked quite good.

I'll go look for another tote when I have a chance, no rush for now. I might build another shed in the back for that purpose as well. I'm really close to the Tardisdeli so it should all work.

Jay, Christine, Jessee, Erick, could we meet tomorrow night (Wednesday)? My place is fine...

Jessee, your free to drop by my place later on tonight but would be nice to have Erick as well. It's not a big deal right now, a phone call would work as well.

I'm going Friday afternoon to meet with the restaurant owner so I just want to confirm that he's gonna be taken care of before I show up...

Erick, where are youuuuuuu?

I can't make it tonight, but I can call in... My capacity is mostly in the pickup / delivery end of things (have a hitch rack), I currently don't have storage or filtration setup but I'm partnering with Eric N for that at this time.

So no real commitment for storage or filtration? That's a waste!

Tardisdeli can help with storage for a bit but it's not ideal as they don't have filtration capability and I could do it for a while but I already get close to 120 L a week so that would become almost a full time job!

Got to think this over...

I'm toying with the idea of collecting it once a week or twice a month via the ferry, with enough oil it could justify it, could also justify a couple extra trips to whistler this summer for me as I would already be on the mainland :)

Centrifuge is soon to be assembled, all I need now is a decent source of oil.

Storage seems to be the key word here.

I can't store any 1000L totes.

Can anyone else ? :M

Storage isn't the real issue, myself or Tardisdeli might be able. The real issue is filtration and distribution.

I've personally advertised wvo for sale and the demand isn't stong enough to sell the extra oil I have so I'm not sure this quantity would sell out...

Picking it up is the easy part... but glad to see interest for that aspect.

Inputs?

Which would require dedicated time and to make something out of it would probably be beneficial to expand the customer base -- ie. advertise to all diesel's .

I am willing to help, if you are concerned about being able to process all the WVO and storing it I am interested in taking unfiltered oil for my own needs. If taking cubes of oil would help you it would also help me as my daily commute is a minimum 140km and with the driving I do for hockey I'm looking at 700km a week or a min 84L of fuel. No I'm no set up to filter at this time but I have a fair amount of room at least for storing cubes.

I'm sure there are a few people that could take raw WVO cubes off your hands to enable the CO-OP to handle the remainder. Ideally I would prefer to work with a group of people as it's a lighter load financially but when I posted for others interested in the past I got no response. It may be because of my Squamish location.

Another thought, how about people in the Co-Op who do not have the ability to store or filter on their own site/location donate their time at a site where it is possible to store/filter. In the same way the pickup of the oil could be rotated amongst members etc.

I do have access to 25L plastic containers that are extremely sturdy and suitable to carry inside a vehicle.

dfnder,

Will keep this in mind. I'm pretty sure I offered you filtered oil in the past, if you still need some don't hesitate to contact me as I still have more than my own needs.

I'll PM you by this weekend to see what can be arranged or PM me contact info if you prefer.
