I want to buy a Delica

Post by Lorenzo »

Hi everybody,
My name is Benoit C. and I'm from Québec.
Since October 2008, I looked to Mitsubishi Delica from different importer. And now, I'm really considering buying one. But before doing the move, I would like to get some informations from owners who knows best about this car.
I would like to know what is the best way to import or buy, what are reasonable prices for an average Delica, is it complicated to import parts if it brake down, etc.
Feel free to send messages and give me some advices!
Thank!

Salut Benoit!

Are you from Quebec city or elsewhere? I imported one for my brother in Montreal... you might be able to hunt him down to see one up close?

As for importer, it used to be cheaper to import them yourself but it's a small risk as you never know what you're getting. Now, price locally are excellent. Especially that the local vans from the respectable dealers are well serviced. I would suggest to contact Mardy at http://www.amazingautoimports.com/phpwcms/
He's probably got the best prices for a serviced vehicle.

http://www.maxoverdrive.ca/ also has good vehicles.

You can also check this post which talks about local dealers:

If you need to "talk" to someone, don't hesitate to PM me and send me your phone #. I could surely answer most of your questions.

Good luck in your search, these are great vans!

A plus tard,

Welcome to the forum. I'm a Montrealer currently living in Calgary. Hope to move back soon. Hope you find one you like. It will be great for going up Cote-des-Neiges. I wouldn't recommend importing yourself unless you have a good idea of what is involved.

My recommendation is to fly to Vancouver or Victoria, visit the dealers there -- check on this forum for the good ones and bad ones -- and drive it home. About $10,000 will get you a very nice one. You get a cross-country vacation that way! And by going with a reputable dealer, you will have all the preventive maintenance already done.

The biggest decision you'll have to make is automatic or manual, and lowroof, highroof, or highroof CrystaLite. I'd go for the automatic CrystaLite just like mine, but that's just me.
