Yet more greetings from England!

Post by sturmy »

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for a while as you seem to have the best mods section :-D
I'm a L300 man at heart and your forum is perfect for me. Currently running a 1992 grey over silver exceed running on 31's with occasional snorkel.
Went shopping for a VW synchro and ended up with this :-D Much cheaper and just as useful!
Usually used for hauling mountain bikes, Kayaks and canoes, great for camping trips in remote places.
Not much cop at loading pictures etc. But I have tried to copy a link below of the trip we bought it for.
Our truck is in image 2366.

Welcome Sturmy,

Nice looking rig you have there! Good meaty stance.
However did you manage to sandwich your spare behind the bullbar?

Cheers

Yet more greetings from England!

Hey Sturmy...you've moved the bar up front I think?
I toyed with this idea too....still not 100% where mine will end up, but now leaning to a receiver hitch bike rack style that folds down allowing access to the rear hatch. Every system has it's pros & cons....I've got very mixed feelings about my choice at this point.
Anyway - I like what you've done...may have to revisit this option!

I'm leaning towards trailer hitch and the item at the following link or similar;

I thinking to modify my existing Thule Swing down bike rack to take a spare tire in order to open rear door. Hmmmm.

Wow! Quite the trip. Sigh, I guess I have another destination to add to a rather long "to do" list. Wonderful photography, amazing place. Thanks
