Steering wheel cover...leeeeather!

Post by konadog »

I was very surprised to have no luck finding stitch on leather wheel covers in the local shops so I resorted to the internet and got this top-shelf "Wheelskin" (http://www.wheelskins.com - size AX). Didn't take much more than a week to arrive at the door and about 45 minutes to stitch it on. Niiiiice - High recommend them 8-)

Moon Machine's gotta woodie - never really wanted to wrap it up.

Mind you, if I had the stock wheel, I probably would want to cover it with something....

Grey or charcoal ?
Black - but they do come in a variety of shades and colours - Red anyone? I like the feel, the look and the protection they give the wheel - The wheel of my old truck was worn almost right through and what was left of the rubber around the steel core broke loose and was floating around. The tight cover helped firm it up OK, but I wish I had put one on before it got so bad. " An once of prevention...", after all :M :-D

I got a black elastic cover from CT and wrapped it with black waxed linen sail twine so I can wheel with my palm. Leather is cool ~ that was what I was originally looking for ~ should give you plenty of grip. How do you find it for steering?

Great - Smooooth 8-) It's a very tight fit on the wheel.

I meant my old Nissan pickup (I generally think of Hazel as a "bus"), but thanks for the generous offer delicat :-D While Hazel's auction sheet says her wheel has signs of wear, it looks new to me, but like I said, I'm coming off my old truck whose wheel looked like I had driven it a million clicks! Good going on getting that woody btw - picture?

You know, for the life of me i can't figure out their website ordering...it keeps telling me ' No size found', even when i enter in 'other' as the model. Is there some sort of trick to it? Or should i call them direct?

Thanks!

When I ordered ours last year I did it over the internet. If you have trouble by all means call - well worth it! I love that leather cover more eveyday. Top-shelf stuff. The wheel is the main point of contact between you and your bus, after all :-D :M
