Are transmissions in '94 models identical to earlier models?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Are transmissions in '94 models identical to earlier models?

Post by The Pinkfingers »

So the mysterious intermittent lurching in our delica is still there (see previous post).

The next step is Japanoid wants to replace our transmission (still under warranty). But I don't think there are many '94 model transmissions lurking out there, if any, so they are probably going to replace it with another model year. Is this going to work? James (the diesel mechanic) is not there this week, so I'm a little nervous about bringing it in tomorrow.

On the tag that is between the drivers legs (lift up flap of fabric), it says my transmission model number is V4AW2. What does yours say (and what year is your deli)?

The problem is, on the delica wiki and the pdf version of the automatic transmission manual, it doesn't list the 4D56 engine on the 1994 model as a V4AW2. Nor on the 1993 model, except for 1993 4D56 engines with turbocharger and intercooler. 1994 does not have any 4D56 engines with turbo and intercooler listed, even though I have turbo.

So I'm confused.

If anyone can understand this, this is what my tag says:

model: Y-P35W HSPPT 2
chassis: P35W-046686
engine: 4D56 ext: X6UK
trans axle: V4AW2 4875
color, int opt: X68H81 30H 305

Hey Pinkfingers - I've been wondering how your issue has been going. Sorry it's yet to be resolved. I just checked and our 1992 auto trans bus has a V4AW2 4875. Hope this helps... Good luck getting this sorted out. I'll be watching for your "It's fixed!!" post :M

Immensely. It's the exact same as mine, so at least I know they can put a tranny from earlier models in.

Here's hoping it's a rebuilt one and not just one they took out of another Deli! Here's also hoping it fixes the problem!!

Thanks for your reply, Konadog.

hi, try & see if the shifter module on the side of the transmission will make difference. as this is the one who also control the shifter of this transmission maybe its just too dirty. or doing malfunction
dont take it out yet do this first it will save you lots of hazzle.
hope this help.

Didn't drop it off today. I'm going to wait until James returns from holidays before I get the work done, as he's been the one dealing with the issue on my past visits. The replacement tranny they have found comes from Japan, and apparently has 40,000 km on it. But when I asked about tranny model number or year of deli it came from they didn't know (James ordered it). So I'll wait and double check.

I'll keep y'all posted.

If ANYONE out there has had this problem (see description here: http://www.delica.ca/forum/mysterious-i ... -3394.html) please speak out as to the cause!

We have been working with a specialist transmission shop here on the Island and I will have two fully reconditioned transmissions in stock by early next week . I know Japanoid have good parts sourcing from Japan but I thought I would make you aware that we have cheap used and rebuilt in stock just in case of problems sourcing . Thanks , Glen

I sent you an email a couple of days ago, but can you pm or email me with the prices of your rebuilt trannies? I may pay the extra and have them put in a rebuilt rather than used one.

I own a 92 Pajero Automatic and am trying to source out as much info as i can. I'm looking to do a tranny flush in the near future and have yet to find a supplier other than Mitsubishi. :MElliott :M

Tranny flushes are fairly typical. I had mine done at Japanoid. CVI in Richmond does Pajeros. If you're on the island you can try CC Autos in Coombs. There is a list on the wiki of local repair shops.
