I found oil... oh wait, maybe not

Post by g_man1972 »

So I finally find a source for WVO, a good quantity of WVO. As I am making arrangements for pick up schedules and so forth he tells me its in tubs. Hmmm I have never seen them in anything but those cubes, so I enquire and he reads the lable again and finds its a Canola soy mix. Knowing my luck can I assume that this is useless?

Cheers

Does tubs mean it's in those big (5 gallons) buckets? And why would it be useless, there's no problem with Soy oil as a fuel.

Not sure of the size, but buckets sounds right. I have only heard of people using 100% canola oil, never seen soy and a search of the site doesn't turn up anything either. But if your saying that a soy/canola mixture is fine then I am a happy guy again:-). Yea, that's a heck of a set up Adam has, if your reading is that what you are using (soy mix) as well?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Pretty much any kind of filtered oil will work. BC Delica drove on used motor oil at one point I think.

Well it sounds like I am in business then, how exciting! Now I just have to get the kit in and figure out a filtering system for as affordable as I can.

Thanks as usual for your input and allaying my concerns

Well you don't have kids so I can understand the exaggeration; but it ran so quietly on 100 % used motor oil it hardly sounded like a diesel. Used motor oil will fill up filters quite fast with fines, so you can save it up and use it near the end of you filters life. Diesel oil is of course dirty then gas engined vehicles, and I was running it at 100% in a WVO vehicle (I once had). http://www.delica.ca/forum/waste-motor- ... -2884.html

Jesse used tranny fuild mixed with diesel to run his Deli.

as long as it's liquid it should work. hopefully they're not using that hydrogenated stuff at that place.
