Who Has a Spare passenger Window?

Post by Manitoba Delica »

I just had my front passenger window smashed in Winnipeg.... A quick smash and snatch.... Now my family and I are in the predicament of replacing the window. I'm hoping to find one quickly and get it shipped to Winnipeg.. How do you replace a window.. Any advice to help me out would be greatly appreciated..... thanks

Hi Matthew, Glen of CCautos on the Island is most likely choice. I just had to replace my rear driver's side window. Cheers, Christine.

Hmm,, this makes me wonder what others have done when they need to leave things when they are at remote trailheads or whatnot. In the past I have resorted to such things as going into the woods and with my items in a waterproof bag, burying them in a tree cavity, and a few other innovative techniques. None of which would work well in the city.

I wonder if it would be worth it to buy one of those bolt down safes from Costco and bolt them right into the floor of the Delica? Kind of inconvenient however if you can never move it. Maybe for that matter it would still be effective even if it was not bolted down. They are pretty heavy, chances are most smash and grab artists would not relish running down the road with a large heavy safe, or maybe it could be cabled in on a good bicycle cable with a lock.

Although of course they say don't leave valuables in your vehicle, there are lots of times when it is impossible not to do so obviously.

I hope they didn't get too much of value from you.

the biggest trick is that if you do leave something of value in the vehicle, make sure it's not visible!

most of these crimes are crimes of opportunity, they see a backpack on the seat and grab it, or something similar, if the vehicle looks empty at first glance, they often won't bother, so simply stashing things under the seats, or otherwise relatively hidden is a good start.

I used to leave my MG midget unlocked and roof down if possible, if it looked like rain I would put it up but make extra sure the doors where unlocked so if some idiot wanted to rummage around inside they didn't need to break the window or worse even, cut the roof open.
