I wanna ride please...

Post by targaracer »

Hi all. We just got back from a wedding in Whistler and saw a bunch of Delica's running around. They are SO COOL!. I've got a few questions...

I've never actually been inside one, is there a member in S. Ontario who would be willing to show me one and maybe take me for a spin?

My other question is a bit more technical, does anyone know if they can be flat towed (like behind a motorhome)?

I think I need to sell my mini and get one of these, they look like a hoot.

Cheers

Hi and welcome to this site!

There are a few Delica owners in Ontario, you might want to use the search bottom at the top and just type "Ontario" and see what comes up.

As for towing I don't see why not. They are about 4000lbs though...

Good luck, if there's a Delica owner in your area I'm sure he'll be more than happy to show you his van, that how the rest of us are anyway!

Cheers,

Hi and welcome!
The issue with towing has to do mostly with the automatic transmission pumps being able to keep fluids circulating. I believe there are only a few auto trannys that actually can be towed without modifications or having to stop every couple hundred km's to run the engine - Jeep has historically been the choice of motorhomers (motorhomies?) for this reason. That said.... if you were to find yourself a 5 speed, I believe those problems go away. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable in this area can offer some insight.

Delicat's point on the weight is very valid... heavier than most but...

Would look pretty cool tho.... box behind a box 8-)

Cheers!
