Re: Seat swap???
It is a good question though: does the bench easily swap in? The captains chairs as you know ride on two rails each. Do the bench seats use these same rails, at the same width and so forth?
Or maybe the bench seat uses the same mounting locations in place of the sliders?

Re: Seat swap???
the rails that the captains chairs slide an are held down by 3 bolts I think it was, I would imagine that the bench either has it's own set of rails that bolt to either the same holes or other that are likely already there or the bench just bolts directly to holes already there (possibly the same ones that the rails mount to?
Anyways I'm speculating, the Japanese usually make it so the options are possible in all the configurations as it is to expensive to make a totally different body just to have a bench instead of captains chairs.

Re: Seat swap???
Hmmm, would be a major & painful operation to change the seats. We snooped about a few deli's looking at just that. The floor bolt holes are different places, and have totally different methods --number of legs, sliding tracks etc. So you would have to remove the seats, remove the carpet, remove the tracks. Then decide where to place your new seats, drill holes and hope to heaven you get the correctly re-inforced area to drill into, so your seats don't land in your windshield during your next emergency stop (messy with all the blood and guts everywhere). Since also may have to reach up from underneath to attach the nuts and washers to your bolts, may have to remove fuel tanks or mufflers or stuff. Just buy the preferred Exceed or the Chamonix model, the seats are the major difference, everything else is a menu choice.

I guess I'll find out when I get my Delli, next week. I'm a fabricator in a hotrod and chopper shop so making things work shouldn't be much of a problem. We are real used to making things work where they should'nt. After I have a good look at mine, and some detailed picts of the bench mount, I'll start looking for a bench.

Re: Seat swap???
I seen pix of a Delica with Recaro seats - maybe on the UK site. Can't speak for the 4 points, wouldn't want them, but I think you could retrofit some other seats.
Someone on this site tastefully outfitted their rig with an EZ-boy recliner.

Re: Seat swap???
my 93 chamonix is coming with a bench, and my friend's (i think its an exceed) comes with captains chairs. we agreed to swap 'em (she has kids) so they better swap ok! i heard somewhere that the floors have all the bolt points for all the seat configs in every van. as loki speculates:
so if its true it would be a matter of cutting the carpet to find where to bolt the rails down.loki wrote:the rails that the captains chairs slide an are held down by 3 bolts I think it was, I would imagine that the bench either has it's own set of rails that bolt to either the same holes or other that are likely already there or the bench just bolts directly to holes already there (possibly the same ones that the rails mount to?

PLEASE let us now what you find, and with photos too if possible. i might be able to get a bench for you from my father in laws jasper. in theory he dont want it, but he might change his mind when he sees it.twisted wrote:I guess I'll find out when I get my Delli, next week. Re: Seat swap???
Then you would be the only Chamonix with captains, and she'd be the only exceed with a bench... http://www.delica.ca/forum/delica-model ... s-857.htmlafter oil wrote:my 93 chamonix is coming with a bench, and my friend's (i think its an exceed) comes with captains chairs. we agreed to swap 'em (she has kids) so they better swap ok!
However, you'll also have a mix 'n' match look, because Chamonix and Exceed seats look very different and feel very different. You may want to switch both 2nd and 3rd row seats. The Chamonix seats have a more durable fabric, but my kids found them a little less comfy.
Hope it works out for you!

Re: Seat swap???
There have been posts, both here and on the UK forum, with photos with everything stripped out. The photos should show the bolt holes. Will probably take some snooping or good search-term-selection to find.
