And that's not a euphemism!
I would like to introduce Mr Happy, my newly imported Delica. Like so many others, I have been a longtime lurker and occasional poster on the forum. I have been waiting an excruciating couple of months while my van came over from Japan. In fact, I would like to thank the forum for the gorgeous delica I ended up with.
I had purchased a 1991 at auction in Japan. It was essential that it have the shoulder belts in the back for my two daughters, and I thought I was safe with an aug 91 build date. Between my own suspicions and some great advice from the this forum, I became convinced that the van I was importing did not have the rear shoulder belts, and that it would not be the easy, bolt on upgrade that I had thought - not to mention the addition of the side impact beams. So, it became apparent that I had made a mistake!
Thankfully, the importer I was using, Terra 2, graciously allowed me to switch the van I had committed to with another one they had purchased for their own inventory. This one had higher Km's, but it was 93. I fell in love with it right away - it had really nice 16" rims, fender flares, a ladder, and it had a higher rating (4b) than the previous one.
So after months of staring at two little images, it arrived. And I'm very glad to say it is better than I expected. Not a mark or scratch anywhere. First thing I checked - all the shades work. Then I started to notice a few upgrades I hadn't noticed - like the little tiny pod like driving lights below the bull bars, and the aluminum skid plate, and chrome mirrors.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello, and thanks to the forum for its part in contributing to the happenstance that brought this amazing truck to my driveway.

Awesome vehicle. We're waiting for ours to come over as well, and yes, staring at two tiny pictures (of the exterior, at least).
Yours looks great. Congratulations, and welcome.

Okay, yes I'm the sailor, but I'm obviously not the only one who was thinking the wrong thing when I read the thread title...
Sweet ride--love the rims and the fender flares! As for finding little 'surprises', I'm still finding that with Moon Machine and suspect that will be the case right up until (and quite possibly beyond) the one year anniversary. Excellent vans, I love them and yes I might be a little too passionate, but hey...
Anyway, welcome and well met. Maybe see you 'round some time.

One thing I always liked about white Delicas, you can really see the panel lines, making it look a bit like a transformer! (Is that the seam for the bumper trim, or a separation line when the Delicabot transforms to robot mode?)
Very nice package you got there....uh, the van that is! (As the other sailor, I have to admit that the title had me raise an eyebrow!)

Hey Glenn
Mr. Happy was unbelievably well cared for. The last owner kept him so clean and neat. Can't wait to see him in the mud. Ha Ha. You've raised the bar on Delica standards. You should bring him out to the next Delica meet and show him off.
Thanks for helping me trouble shoot my A.C. system on Mr. Happy today. Great that you're only a 4min. walk away.
Talk to you soon.
