has anyone done this?

my dad is a mechanic (very knowledgeable with engines) and thinks that it would be fairly simple.. im just looking for some info on it.

according to http://www.frybrid.com wvo has to be at 160 degrees before it can burn properly. So unless you plan on adding things and creating biodiesel you will have to have something that heats the wvo at least by the time it gets to teh fuel filter if not through a pickup in your wvo tank, along the lines and into the filter. This is just what I have learned from reading, and I don't know that much but as far as i know viscosity is the largest issue.

If you develop your own kit for the van though I would be incredibly interested. frybrid is a great model to learn from.

Lost one has made his own system and it sounds pretty good viewtopic.php?p=158&highlight=#158 .

Without a converter/preheater you can add up to 20% treated WVO, to your diesel tank, in the spring and fall, up to 60% during the warmer summer months. We have shut our vans down on 100% wvo a couple of times in the summer and they'll start up if left over night. Won't get away with that this time of the year, even 20% will cause rougher starting in zero degree weather. Also don't put WVO into the stock tanks of the Delica and change all fuel lines that contact the grease.

New and old veggie oil will strip all the paint off the inside of the existing Delica diesel tanks!

Adrock mentioned of the Frybrid site, which IMO is one of the best. I talented welder could fabricate a heat exchanger to heat the WVO with coolant, and could include a electric heating system before the injectors. Personally I wouldn't touch a single tank system, there's lots of information about the harmful effects of WVO inside of a cold engine.

If I could do it again I would make my own kit. There is nothing wrong with the one I got from plantdrive, and to tell you the truth I would have done it the same if I had no working knowledge of it all... but the second time around, I will do my own. It is easier to customize it as well as save some money.

I think Andy did his own, and James is working on one right now. (And I agree with the above posting from Kev, I would never touch a single tank system).

Talking to a friend of mine last night who says that running 50/50 WVO/Diesel is running great in a Pajero he knows. Would you pre mix or just pour the veg into the tank? The paint stripping worries me. What did you do Kev? Change your tanks? I can't see my self doing that..Would Bio strip the paint also?

SO many questions.. :-)
Trying to figure how to reduce usage even more. My driving distances do not always allow me to switch over so I am using more diesel than I would like.
