what changed in 1996? Electronic injection, ABS?

Mitsubishi Delica L400 production commenced in 1994 -- After much anticipation, the L400 arrived on Canadian Soil in 2009!

I have a 1994 L400 diesel (no ABS). Would like to upgrade to a 1996+ diesel with standard ABS.

Anyone know exactly what changed in 1996 model year, beyond the cosmetics. I think ABS became standard, what about the engine? Did it gain electronic injection/common rail? If so, did fuel economy improve? Any other changes?

I believe the engines are largely the same, but gained an electronically-controlled injection pump (VE-EDC if you're googling). It's essentially the same as the old indirect-injection Bosch VE pump, but with an ECU controlling the timing and injection quantity.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.
