L300 Models? Current market? Poking at buying again....

Post by audi4life20v »

Hey everyone, long time no post!

Ive been interested in these vans for the better part of 7-8 years now. One of those *Press your face to windows and act like a 6 year old seeing a monster truck* kinda things. Life choices and hobbies kept me apart from them...

Anyways I've been thinking about looking into them again. Maybe setting up a short term goal of buying one by spring this year if I can find what I want.

I never really understood the L300/L400 models/names/options for these vans or what to look for and buy and was wondering if there was a definitive "guide" as to what everything is/looks like/common options and gearing. There seems to be 4 different roofs? Thats a lot of choice!

I only ask because I think I may downsize my life a little and get into a really nice van as a daily driver/toy hauler/exploration machine (dirtbikes/camping across Alberta/BC would be nice).

Looking on Kijiji In Alberta im seeing a few L300's priced in the 5000-6500 range. They look to be some higher KM units and a bit "loved" for my taste. Is finding the 140k Vans that are clean becoming quite rare yet? Better off importing if Im picky on specifics were Japan has a larger selection?

I dont mind planning on spending decent money on one if its going to be a great product. However depending on price (5-15g?) and how reliable I could expect of a van the timeline could change. I currently drive a Raptor thats a bit pricey to own so transferring to an expensive-er Van would require me to think about the timeline of selling my truck and such were an option for a cheaper van would be to keep both so I can work on the van for a while.

But yeah TL:DR, dont know a whole lot about the specifics of the van models/options. Looking to poke at maybe buying again and unsure of what the market is like/vehicles are like coming up on 22+ years for L300's.

Any insight would be nice so I know whats fair and whats out there. I love the SWB white 4x4's, always so clean looking!

Sorry for the rambling!

Oh and if anyone in the Edmonton area wants to hang out one afternoon and go for a test drive/show off your van I'd be down haha. Ive only ever seen them driving by or parked!
