Basic Camper Conversion Help Needed

Post by evolberg »

Hi, my name is Ethan and I've been the proud owner of a black long wheel base 97 (Series 1) l400 since February. I'm going to be embarking on a grand journey all across BC pretty soon with two of my friends to film a documentary. Sleep arrangements wise, we're going to be largely tenting. The main thing I'm trying to figure out is how we're going to charge all of our film equipment while on the road, and what are some of the basic things we'll need to do to make our extended travel bearable. Also feel free to check out our movie's homepage :-D http://www.meltmovie.com

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a great trip.
How do you charge your film equipment now? Do you plug it into 110 (household plug) or use a USB cord into a wall adapter or computer etc?
Depending on how you do that will depend on what set up you will need in your Delica.

Do you have dual batteries in your Delica? If not, that would be a good place to start.

Wire in some LED lights inside - and maybe some portable ones for outside under the awning you have. They draw much less power from the battery.

A roof top tent is awesome if you have the budget for it.

A 12 volt pump, water tank and a shower nozzle is nice to have when camping. All easily plumbed and wired and stored away.

Have a look at what these folks did to their L300. It will give you some great ideas and may be some stuff you can do within your budget.
