Hey Gang,

I'm new to this. Just put down a deposit with Craig from http://candsperformance.ca/.

I have a few key questions/unknowns:

1. I've heard from one source that when important vehicles from Japan getting the lowest km possible is not necessarily the best as that means the vehicle has likely sat longer...Can anyone verify this? Is getting something with 90,000 - 110,000km better then trying to get one with 55, 000 - 70,000km? Is there any correlation is does it not matter?

2. Aside form lights and tires in (BC) what are the common maintenance actions that SHOULD take place? Are these must dos like fluid flushes and belts or does it just all depend?

We aren't too fussy on the finer details and all the specs of our ride. We primarily want to have a family van (7-8 seater) that can also 4x4 to get firewood and access rivers up logging roads.

We are a family of 4 (two little ones) and are currently selling our Toyota Townace (that we bought 2nd hand in Canada). This puppy has been good to us and currently has 143000km:

The way I see it:

• As far as low mileage goes ~ the less stress on any given part of a motor vehicle the better condition it should be, presuming no abuse.
• As far as age goes ~ rubber has a shelf life, fluids get stale, I'd replace the oil, ATF, coolant, PSF.
• Check when the Timing Belt (or chain), Balance Belt, water pump, thermostat, oil seals were last changed.
• Check your stabilizer links & bushings, fore and aft. Check grease, ten nipples, you can find them in the manual, I know on my Starwagon there are ten.
• Check oil levels in the differentials, check manual. A good thread to read would be "~Welcome to Delica Canada: Read This Before You Do Anything." This thread will unlock much of Delica Canada to you.
• Check brakes, getting a mechanic's review is a good idea, there are some good mechanics in BC, especially in the Lower Mainland, that know these vehicles ~ they're just another vehicle ~ steering wheel just happens to be on the other side ~ no big deal.
