Hello from Vancouver!

Post by RamblinGuy »

I bought my first Delica this past week, to add to the herd here in the lower mainland. It's a 1999 short wheelbase, high roof L400 Space Gear Exceed with the 2.8 intercooled turbo diesel and an automatic. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun! It's pretty much all stock, and everything appears to work, although I was surprised that it passed the provincial import inspection with RHD headlights? I got some Depo LHD lights, so it's all good, but still... seemed odd!

Anyway, I'm planning on some camping and road trips with it this summer, so I'll be interested in any discussions or experiences regarding camper conversion type topics like batteries, fridges, beds, storage, etc.

This looks like a great community! I'm looking forward to hanging out here :-)

Welcome! You will find quite a lot of camper conversions on here, these vans are a really popular platform for them.

Wayne I've been thinking about your proposed new Moby Dick idea. It strikes me as not far from Mobile Dick :o which may not be the image you wish to project!! :-D

Turns out my first Delica wasn't exactly what I was looking for. So here's my current one, fresh from Coombs Country Auto this past weekend. Glen and Graham were very accommodating as we worked through all the details to get it just right, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out! :-D

It's a 1998 SWB 2.8 diesel Super Exceed seven-seater with Crystal Lite roof.
