Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

L300 stock ride hight shocks

Post by TieMyShoe »

I'm not searching anymore... Most threads seem to have broken links.

I just purchased a set of ES9000 for my van. It is lifted 2", however these shocks cannot be right... I was given 914510 for the front and 92410 for the rear (apparently this is what a well known local shop uses?). At full sag there is hardly any stroke left on the shock at all, maybe 1.5" at most... my friend has these shocks in his van I noticed a few weekend back that he would 3 wheel where my van would stay planted.. I am now convinced it is because Pro-comps bottom out before max suspension travel is used. Can anybody shed light on this? I need a solution for tomorrow because the Monroe-matics that were in the van could not keep up and have turned blue from heat.

I am getting "error %$%!%" when I click those.... maybe its my ISP?

As far as I can tell having a "lifted shock" does not work. the shock body is to long resulting in less suspension travel lifted then at stock height. At full suspension droop the stock shocks do not top out, I would rather put a stock ride height shock back in as that what I had before and they seemed to work better.

I managed to track down some KYB Gas-Adjust mono tube shocks an I am going to try. they are 1" shorter compressed and actually cost less then the ES9000.

If these work out I will post up the part #. by rights these SHOULD out perform all of the twin tube shock options (pro comp, rancho, Monroe). I found front Monroe Reflex monotubes.. but they do not make a compatible rear... There is also a cross # for MonoMax shocks which are step up however nobody local had them :(

IMHO if replacing stock or raised shocks you need to do your homework. Forget the posts telling you the shock you need. Wrong....

Remove your shocks, raise and lower your delica and take measurements. Buy a shock that gives maximum travel on either side of min. and max. height. I raised my L400 2 " and bought what Jesse recommended. Guess what "too short, not enough travel." These shocks lasted a week in the cold but my fault for believing what a poster wrote. Now I have RS9000xls, RS999005 and RS999136 with lots of travel either side. No limiting straps but I may install in time.

Incidentallly they cost $142 each at Lordco. I believe any shock would work okay if it were the correct length. My Rancho 5000 series were okay but just too short. A lot cheaper too. The 9000 series are okay but not super shocks, just adjustable.

Good luck

What is disconcerning to me is that a local shop is buying these in bulk from the same supplier and installing them on customer vehicles... The rear shocks end up inverted... They are twin tube and cannot be run inverted.... The front shocks are to long and cause premature bottoming.
