Optima Battery not so optimal

Post by after oil »

My optima was nearly three years old last week and losing charge quickly if headlights were left on. When it was new, it seemed i could leave headlights on for hours and still start. I got a brand new one under warranty. LEft my headlights on for about an hour and the battery drained.
L300, single Optima battery. Is this normal?

Optima batteries are not what they used to be. Once the company was bought out a number of years back the quality went way down. To put is simply the old batteries were over built and that's not good for profit margin..

a better replacement would be an odyssey.
I replaced my duels with a single about 4 years ago and haven't looked back since.
