Hi, I do have the chance to buy parts from a different year Delica overhere. Now, for any of you Delica experts, I would like to know if:
-Can the water cooled turbo be use on a Oil cooled turbo system ?
-Can a complete injection fuel pump (with injectors) be fit on a différent year Delica ?
-Alternator from different years Delica ?
-Water pump ?
-Hyundai head ?
Much Thanks

I had to replace the head on my 89 4d56 about 10k km ago. Used a Hyundai head and it runs. I know there are early and late model heads though, having either recessed or protruding valves.

The water cooled turbo should bolt right up and work the same, however you'll have to fit the water cooling lines as well.
The injection pump will be fine. The injectors *should* be ok (the opening pressure is the same for all 4D56 engines), but some 4D56 heads take injectors with a smaller thread, which also use a different spill rail.
The Alternator and water pump shouldn't be any trouble either.
As Joebillhill mentioned, there are two different kinds of heads- protruding valve (where the valve faces sit about 1mm above the head surface when closed) and flush valve (where the valve faces are, well, flush with the cylinder head surface). You must use the style of head which matches your engine- the cutouts on the pistons are specific to the head style. I would guess that L300 Delicas, even late ones, are all protruding valve- flush valve came in when the 4D56 switched to computer-controlled injection pump timing in the Pajero, and Delicas never had that. But I'd still check.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Thanks all for these inputs. Now, and because I do not want to star another thread, we all know that in our local Car Parts Store, we can match a lot of our parts with Montero 1988 as this véhicule (Unfortunatly NOT the Delica L300) is in their Database (was sold in NA)..... Now, for the Engine parts (OEM 4D56 OR Hyundai 4D56) is there a Vehicle (SUV, Car, Pick-ups-Forklift, Power plant) of any kind we can use as for finding compatible replacements from our local NA Car Databases ?
