so, ive been having a VERY difficult time getting the van to start and have had to start using ether to get it started. I know this is bad for engines however at the end of the day it gets the van started. I do have a block heater but I get a funny feeling that it does not work like it use to and seeing how it is behind the starter, it can stay where it is for now. I am still trying to troubleshoot as to why the van wont start like it should and my forehead is starting to hurt from banging it on a wall troubleshooting the van. When it does start/turnover now, there is a HUGE amount of thick grey/black smoke out the exhaust and this continues for a few minutes until it is warmed up at running temp where as before there was some smoke at start up but defiantly nothing like a fog machine going off like it is now, once at running temp the fog show goes away and my neighbor is a little bit happier.
Is this an injector problem? worn piston rings??
ether anyone?

Re: ether anyone?
Yeah, have you checked glow plugs and ECU? Is it hard to start cold but starts normally once it's hot? That would be glow plugs not working.
If so, you can skip the ether and cold start by jumpering 12v from your battery to your glow plug bus bar.
Or maybe you can find another use for the ether...

Contact the Rising Sun Imports in New Westminster or Amazing Auto in Richmond BC.
YOu will be around 150.00 for the good set but its worth the investment. I did it for my L400 and been running right ever since.
I also keep a back-up set in the event these fell like burning out on me. The stuff from EBay (UK or CHina) just don't last....get what you pay for.
