My name is Steve and I live in Vancouver (east).
After two years of hoping and wishing, I found a good match and bought a 94 L400 Super Exceed in great condition
No pictures yet because it's parked in my dark parking garage and I don't have insurance yet.
I will post pictures ASAP
1. It had a CVI delica tune in 2011 - how often does this need to be done?
There are a few minor things CVI found during the pre-purchase inspection:
Rear stabilizer joints
Inner tie rod ends
Trailing arm bushings
2. How/where can I source these parts? Would Lordco/Napa carry them? Are they the same as a Montero?
3. Alignment (I guess wear on the tires?)
4. Also, CVI said the brakes were 35% and wearing unevenly. Can I order the pads from Lordco/Napa and wait until I hear the wear indicator to replace them? Or how urgent is it? I forgot what I did last time I did the brakes on my old 4runner. The previous owner was surprised the brakes were that low
I have big plans this summer for camping and exploring the BC coast. I also do a lot of outdoorsy stuff, so the Delica will come in handy.
I'm sure I will have lots of questions once I start learning more. I already downloaded both of the L400 manuals and I have been reading through the forums a lot.

Re: New Super Exceed L400
Thanks for your reply
Well I found the local JDM guys have these parts:
Rear stabilizer joints (bushings)
Inner tie rod ends (haven't done yet)
Rear Trailing arm bushings
But apparently (from two different sources)
Source 1: I can't easily do the trailing arm bushings myself, unless I have a big press/etc, and it costs $500+ at a shop because of parts and labour
Source 2: The trailing arm bushings don't need to be replaced if they are cracked (I can't hear any banging)
I got my answers for the brake job and I found some cheap parts locally, just waiting for my arm to heal to change the brake parts.
Since my post I have put just over 1000km's on it and I am slowly fixing the bugs. I have a sleeping platform almost finished, and I modified the 2nd row seats so they slide all the way forward on their tracks.
Thanks!

Still not sure what to do about my Rear Trailing arm bushings
Change them ($$) or not?

Do a search on google re:trailing arm bushing change or press. A guy made a press from heavy threaded rod, and piano washers. It looked strong enough to do the job.

TLWF, that should save me a lot of money! I was actually pricing out hydraulic presses last week (just a dream though as I live in an apartment)thelazygreenfox wrote:S1
