Gasket on Spacer?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Gasket on Spacer?

Post by EddieChamonix »

Hey guys,

I'm am juuuuuuust about ready to wrap up my timing belt/balancer belt job but looking at the manual I noticed that there is a gasket that sits on the spacer for the balancer belt tensioner. I am really kicking myself because, worse than me losing it (in which case I could look around for it) it wasn't there to begin with. And, even worse, after calling some people they either A) don't know what it is or have it or B) know what purpose it serves. So going ahead with the job without it has become a very difficult decision to make.

You can see in the image what I am talking about, and its literally just labelled "Gasket". It serves no sealing purpose, it just sits on the spacer.... so maybe its to dampen the vibrations?

Any ideas what it is for, where I can could find one or if I can go ahead with out it?
