Hello
I am looking for a L400 in the vancouver area.
I am unsure about LWB or SWB, High or low roof.
I want to be able to install a foldable bed for weekend camping trips. But also use it mon-fri for commuting throughout Greater vancouver area.
I am leaning towards SWB low roof so I can park underground. However, I am concerned that this will not be comfortable camping in.
Could anyone provide some info and personal experience with their set up?
Thanks

Hi,
You are describing exactly what I have and what I do with my Delica. I have a 1997 L400 SWB and like you, I needed a low roof model to squeeze into my underground parking. I built a platform to sleep on that allows me to store camping gear underneath. As a bonus, I was walking by Majestic Futon down on 4th Ave just West of Burrard and noticed they sold a tri-fold covered sleeping pad that was a perfect fit for that platform I built.
It's been great! I've been on a few long road trips, West Coast to San Francisco, Nevada, Oregon as well as up into the Okanagan and Kootenays.
I find it to be very comfortable and really look forward to each road trip as I enjoy it so much!
Hope this helps!
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply!
Did you ever wish you had more room while camping (Lwb instead)?
Is there enough room to sit up straight while on the sleeping platform and not hit your head?

Mine is a SWB low roof for the same parking reason , Just last week I got into a hotel in Vancouver with 6' 5" clearance . Many have seats that fold into a full or half bed . I find with an thermarest on top to cover the lumps it's pretty comfortable and you still have the seats when you need them . Yes you can sit up without bumping your head . The big moon roof is great in the summer when sleeping in the back .

Thanks for the information. I haven't seen that many low roof l400's for sale. I can't decide if I should hold out for the low roof or get the crystal lite roof. My parking garage min. height ranges from 6'10"-7'
