New guy from Luxemburg says hello and..... needs help

Post by Thierry »

Hello to all of you.

My name is Thierry from Luxemburg (small but beautiful country in Europe :-D ) an I found this board when I was searching for help concerning a Delica.

In fact, I want to buy a Delica because I'm a forester and I wanted, except for holidays, to use the Delica as mobile office. The problem is now, that the Delica for sale I found is registered in England. The guy who wants to sale it has given me the copy of his registration card in England, but the info's on it are too poor to have the vehicle registrated in Luxemburg.
So I went to my Mitsubishi dealer here in Luxemburg, but he can't help me because the Delica has a short chassis number (Vin number) which his computer and program doesn't accept.

I've searched the board already for similar cases and I found some, but I need the specifications from an official source. Length and these things are not the problem but I do also need things like normal weight, maximum weight, weight per axle and so on.

If anyone of you could help me please? Because I think the car is worth it 8-) .

Ah, almost forgot to describe the car :-D : it is a Mitsubishi Delica L400 pre-facelift, 2800 turbo intercooler, with crystal-lite roof, 4 gear automatic transmission, short chassis an the super-exceed model an the VIN-Plate is PE8W0202780.

Thanks already for your help and hope to hear from you soon!

Greetings from Luxemburg,

Thierry

bonjour Thierry,

Others know a lot more than I do but here's my attempt to help:

If you use Google Chrome as your browser you may be able to read this archive of an old Mitsubishi site as Chrome tries to translate web pages:
http://web.archive.org/web/200210060706 ... /index.htm
Click on the model and you should see specifications.

Some specs on this Russian site here:
http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/mitsubishi/delica/
which, if you click on one of the cars will mention specs:
http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/mit ... 6_6/17217/

An example of the information plate inside the engine compartment just next to the relay box on the driver's side:

They don't have the standard VIN format as you know. Just the "frame type" (e.g. PD8W) followed by a serial number.
Mine is PF8W-0001500

The Delica L400 was sold in Russia, Britain (in fact most of the UK has them), South Korea, Philipines and Japan(obviously!) just to name a few.

If the Delica was not sold in your country that would explain why the dealership or the registry office can't find the info you need.

You have to look at the factory manuals or a sales brochure. Luckily this forum has the manuals in PDF format.

here's the main link to the manuals http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewforum.php?f=71

(OWNERS MANUAL) http://www.delica.ca/manuals/L-400%20Ma ... 97_E12.pdf

Overall dimensions of Delica (Standard Wheel Base Specs)
Total length (mm) 4685
Full-width (mm) 1695
Total height (mm) 2060 (high roof)
Wheel base (mm) 2800
Tread (mm) front 1440, rear 1435
Vehicle weight (kg) up to 2060 depending on configuration
Gross vehicle weight (kg) up to 2445 depending on configuration
Minimum turning radius 6.0 m
Fuel tank capacity 75 litre
Fuel consumption 15.5 km/litre at 60 km/hr (varies slightly with
configuration)

Hi Thierry, welcome to Delica Canada :M

This might also shed a little light on the matter: http://mitsubishi.epc-data.com/delica_s ... 8W-0202780

There is a section of this website called the "Delica FAQ Section", in "Delica Canada Technical".
In there you will find identification information, as well as useful links, like the one I have just posted.

Good luck with your endeavour.

Falco.

Hello guys,

thanks for your help! I will try to read many postings and I hope to get in contact with some of you, who tried successfully to register the Delica for example in France. That would help me a lot because if the Delica is registered there, the technical data I need must be known, because the way of registration in Luxemburg is similar to this in France.

So I hope I will find more infos...

Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

Thierry

We've had members from France, Deutschland, España, Italia, Norge, Suomi (Finland), Serbia, Danmark, België, Nederland... and other European countries that aren't coming to mind right away, 'though most (if not all) of these members were driving Starwagons.

Also, in the shop manuals there is often a section regarding vehicles going to different parts of the world. I know there is for the Starwagon, I would imagine there would be for the Space Gear.
