Spun a main bearing in my Pajero tonight in Phoenix. Need good news like this.
Also, I believe the proper response is "pics or it didn't happen!"

Sorry to hear about your Pajero!
I'm sorry no pics right now but I will have some up soon. The border crossing was amazingly smooth after we got the paperwork from my customs broker.

Mazdax, I'd make replacing the rad hoses a priority. They look like they could split at any moment. Are you going to clean up the motor?

What makes you say the hose is ready to split? I hope to clean up the engine some once I have some time.

Re: My quest for a proper Delica here in the USA!!
You see the kevlar looking crisscross pattern on the upper hose?
You shouldn't see that so clearly, it should be buried deep in the rubber of the hose.
When I first got my wagon I was so impressed with everything and when I was parked on the high street in front of the coffee shop in 2008 with my new to me 1992 Starwagon people were asking me if it was a 2009 model, which re-enforced my feeling that those Japanese sure are ahead in technology, why they even use re-enforced kevlar rad pipes! 'Cuz that's how they looked to me. Then I was quietly taken aside and whispered into my ear:"Umm, Falco ~ those aren't really kevlar, eh... that crisscrossed pattern you see is actually the skeletal structure of the hose... Those hoses look like they've been in a concentration camp for the past five years."
Not that I mean to freak you out, and I'm sure that there's someone out there that has been driving around with hoses like that for that last three years with no problem ~ I would recommend that you replace them sooner than later.
Falco.
P.S.: That's a sweet looking wagon you have.

Great write up, Chris. Definitely makes me want to just let Right Drive ship mine to Phoenix when the time comes.Mazdax605 wrote:Many words typed in this thread about my adventure. I just don't want to type it all up again, so please visit this thread, and enjoy.

Re: My quest for a proper Delica here in the USA!!
Hey guys,
While driving my van tonight I noticed something strange. I parked it at my brothers house and left just the marker lights. I noticed while walking back to it that there are no side marker lights on the front of the van. Only the two white lights on the front bumper. Is there any way to get side markers for the Delica like I had on my US spec van? I know that the orange light that wraps around from the headlights was a lamp on the US spec van. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

In Canada they require that you put on reflectors for inspection. I don't think they had actual lights in that location though.

So it looks like the upper hose is not really an issue per se, as I think it was just constructed like that with the cross hatch visible, but the hose clamp looks to not be on correctly, and the coolant is leaking now. I drove it around a bunch yesterday, and today with no issues, but then at my friends house while idling I smelled coolant, and then found a puddle under the van. The upper hose seemed empty, so we let it cool down, and refilled it, and the reservoir with some fresh water. Looks like once it has cooled I will do some investigating, and see if its just the clamp, or if I can find a suitable replacement hose.

I replaced my rad hoses with OEM hoses, you don't see the skeleton on the new hoses.Mazdax605 wrote: So it looks like the upper hose is not really an issue per se, as I think it was just constructed like that with the cross hatch visible, but the hose clamp looks to not be on correctly, and the coolant is leaking now.
