Hi All,
I'm about ready to repaint the front of my car and want to know how to remove the upright windshield sprayers on my '87. I hope it doesn't require removing the dash.
Best,
Erich

How small are your hands? It's a painful job without removing the dashboard, but doable.
The washers are held in by metal clips, they have a flange (heh. I said flange) on one edge, and if you pull on it they will slide out. (much like the metal clips that hold your door lock in place, if that helps).
I'd start with the passenger side one- if you remove the glove box you might be able to see what you're doing. The drivers side one is more tricky.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

OK, so that helps and is what I had figured. I have meat hooks for hands but have done a lot of wrenching(upside down in the foot well of a TVR, etc.) How hard is the dash to pull? I've had the instrument panel loose to replace a bulb. I know that you don't want to pull that too far or the speedo cable can fall off.

Erich

The dash isn't *too* tricky to pull. In order:
-Steering wheel
-Rear wiper/hazard switch
-brake fluid reservoir cover and single bolt that holds the reservoir in place
-Instrument cluster cover and cluster
-heater control knobs
-Black plastic surround around heater controls
-two screws that hold the heater controls in- leave the controls connected, but push the controls back through the dashboard
-unplug electrical connection to heater controls
-Wiring loom connectors below idle speed control/above clutch pedal
-disconnect idle speed control at accelerator pedal end
-4 nuts hidden under covers beside windscreen defroster vents
-4? 5? screws along underside of dash
...and it should come out easily, bringing the wiring and air ducts with it. Unless I've forgotten something.
