Do i have a cooling isssue?

Post by shaner »

So I noticed my egts doing something a little funny
after driving around shortly I notice that the egt's stay around 4 or 500 even when I am stopped. should they not drop right down?
I do not drive fast and I usually keep them around 900 and never over ten except for very short time periods. I just had the water pump and timing belts (as well as a new head) replaced last month.

what can I check to make sure my vans cooling system is working properly?
is doing the rad a big job?

thank you

Normal... as you drive the exhaust heats the manifold, turbo and pipe.... that is going to be 350-500 just running....

I would wait for temps to come down to 400ish before shutting down...

cooling system is water temperature (rad, fan etc)

EGT is the flame out the cylinder and heat in the exhaust manifold..

higher than normal temperature could be fuel/timing issues....or headwind :)
