Just Bought 1994 Delica Exceed

Post by alcameron »

Hello,

I'm new to the website, and I just bought a '94 Delica Exceed (Vehicle has 170K on it). I live in Calgary currently, and I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with a few things:

1) Does anyone know a Good/Honest/Reasonably Priced Delica Mechanic in Calgary?
2) Suggestions on common mechanical pittfalls, or maintenance items I should take care of ASAP?
3) I really want to get a Hitch installed for carrying Bikes, Does anyone know a good place?
4) General Hints/Tips for Owning the Vehicle

Thanks,

Welcome to Delica Canada, Alcameron :M

1/ There are a few threads on this topic, the name Kirkham's comes to mind but I'm not certain of the name.
2/ I'm not sure what class your Delica Exceed is but would recommend the appropriate technical section, like L400 Technical or L300 Technical. Delica Wiki also has some useful articles.
3/ I live in Vancouver so not sure where in Calgary, sorry about that.
4/ Change the fluids regularly: Oil every 5,000 kilometres; transmission fluid every two years; coolant every two years; same with the differentials and transfer case. Use the search engines on this site for finding things... Here's a good link: http://www.delica.ca/forum/welcome-to-d ... -9778.html

Hope this helps,

Falco.

Hey Falco,

Thanks for your reply and the welcome to the site. I'll keep an eye out for posts about mechanics in Calgary. I was checking some of the other posts and it looks like some of the common repairs are:

1) Timing belt
2) Radiator/Cooling System
3) Installing a Pyrometer or Boost Sensor

Although, I'm not sure why the Cooling system seems to be so problematic from the posts I've been reading, or what is the real advantage of installing a Pyrometer/Boost Sensor?

Also, I was recommended a mechanic in Richmond BC: CVI Auto. Has anyone heard of this place?

Thanks,

Al

I've heard of the place, in fact it's where I go to get work done, they are most excellent people. I thought you were in Calgary? If you are in the Lower Mainland getting work done then I would not only recommend them but also recommend E&H Hitch in Burnaby for your bike rack hitch.

Here's a link to a Delica Wiki article: https://www.socialtext.net/delica/to_do ... red_delica

This is a useful check list for things that may be needed but also gives you a sort of map of your wagon.
