Im tapping in to the collective wisdom of Delica Canada.
What brand of transmission is found in a 1991 L300 5 speed? Did they use an Aisin like Toyota and GM?
I'm just trying to plan for the future since I forsee tranny work way down the road..maybe a year or so away. I'd hate to miss any potential deals on Kijiji if something were to pop up in my travels.

It is a KM145 I think simular to the KM132 and a few others cam in some little trucks...Parts are easy to find.
Typical weakness is the syncros and the 5th gear outside the case as an overdrive over a 1:1 final.
Google tough pans... rebuild kits on ebay cheep. external shifter unique to the delica.

It should be on the transmission, itself ~ I would think ~ along with the transmission number. Perhaps this will help: Here is a link to the automatic transmission manual, which can be found in the L300 Dedicated Category Reference Forum, in the Delica Canada Technical Section. I'd think that the model numbers could be a clue to the manufacturer.

Somehow I read your response and missed that you had tacked on a link.. I must need a stronger perscription.thedjjack wrote:It is a KM145 I think simular to the KM132 and a few others cam in some little trucks...Parts are easy to find.

Did a bit of searching and came up with some info.. looks like KM145 is the same as the V5MT1..

Some interesting stuff found here http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat. ... in=1155087. They describe alot of the same symptoms that I've been experiencing. They mention to not use GL5 gear oil, only use GL4. I checked what I've used and it says its compatible with both GL4 and GL5. So I might change to straight GL4 anyways and add a friction modifier.. whatever that is.

I can't really find where the part number is on the tranny. If it's like my injector pump it'll be worn away..FalcoColumbarius wrote:It should be on the transmission, itself ~ I would think ~ along with the transmission number. Not sure a part number stamped into steel wears away all that easily ~ however, I just checked my VIN ('92) in the Vehicle ID thread (in Delica FAQ Section) and it tells me that my tranny model number is V4AW2-2-QCS and the OEM part number for the Auto transmission assy is MD733577. I'd think that we would both be using the same tranny. You know? I think it could actually be made by Mitsubishi.
Here's something that could be enlightening:

P.S.: Forgot that we are talking about a manual transmission, my bad. Still the information is relevant. If you go to "Useful Links for Vehicle Part Identification Purposes" in Delica FAQ Section and enter your VIN into the Mitsubishi field, you can find the relevant OEM, model or PNC number for any part of your wagon, including the transmission assembly. I'm pretty sure that the transmissions are made in house by Mitsubishi, unlike, i.e.; the IPs that are made by Zexel.
