Accident! repair advice?

Post by JSweet »

Someone decided to try and beat a light and made a late left turn in front of the Delica as I was driving through an intersection. I've got some pretty serious front end damage to my L400, bull bars bent, bumper panels smashed, one headlight broken and leaking coolant from what I assume is a punctured rad. That's all I could see in the dark. That being said, the BMW it plowed into didn't fair so well and i'm sure was a write off (everyone was unhurt). I was able to drive to the side of the road and even up onto the inclined flatbed tow truck no problem 20 minutes later, didn't even have any warning lights I could see. They were going to tow it Squamish to the ICBC claim yard or so I was told. I'm going to start the claim process tomorrow but does anyone know of any garages they'd recommend for repairs?

We've only had it for a couple months and have grown to love our Delica, really hope it's repairable. :(

We're all praying Falcor pulls through

My own dealings with body shops and my Delica is they get fearful of JDM's only because they may not always know where to get parts from. Once you decide on a body shop you would do well to advise them where to get replacement parts from in the Vancouver area.
Yeah I joined the Dark Side because the medical plan is top shelf!

My understanding is that ICBC will not repair any RHD vehicle if the damage is significant. They just pay you out.

If you're able to source the parts yourself any body shop will take your car.

Good luck.

I chatted with an ICBC agent on the phone today, they haven't done the full assessment yet but she said most likely it will be written off and I should start looking for alternatives :( I hate the thought of it going to the wreckers or sitting in some scrap lot somewhere. It was in such great shape.
