I've had my Delica 1992 l300 since September and it's been awesome, no major issues. It does make this strange sound when it kicks down from Overdrive when I accelerate, mainly going up a grade like on the sea to sky. I haven't found any references to this strange sound. It can be heard from outside the vehicle as well. It sounds like it's coming from right under the passenger seat and immediately stops if I let off the gas pedal slightly. I've gone up to the okanagan and had it snapping away at me on the grades with no noticeable power loss.
Any ideas on what it could be? I've had some people say it could be a glow plug relay going bad, a waste gate issue or a noisy pump.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

It's your turbo.
It's okay.
My old L300 was named Cricket
For that very reason

Thanks for the quick reply!
That's reassuring news, so its okay to keep accelerating with that noise going on? (Keeping an eye on the temps of course)
