Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Reliable Delica won't turn over now.

Post by north54 »

Hey All, Since purchasing my 1990 L300 a few months ago its been a great reliable vehicle. But today when i went to start it, glow plugs clicked and dash light came on normally. Turned the key and no cranking but I did get more glow plug like clicking, Checked my battery voltage and they are at 11.5V each. Checked the wiring around for a short and it seems okay.

I'm going to try and clean my battery terminals.

Any other ideas? I really wanna drive to the Kootenays for Xmas

1) clean battery terminals and tighten (Diesels take serious amps to start)

2) check the little white connector near the batteries if it comes undone it will not crank.

3) Next give it a jump start 11.5volts does not tell you how many amps availible

4) make sure the shifter is in park or N (move and put back in case the switch that tells the starter is safe to crank is not engaging).

From what I have read online over the years if your Batt is at 11.6 volts its pretty much dead, were a battery 12.6 is in good shape, I would check and clean the terminals, and inspect the outside of the battery for any bulging or cracks. then try and boost or charge the battery

Thanks for the reply's it started after trying it half a dozen times. Weird since it wasn't cranking at all then it just fired up. I really hope this was just a one time thing but I cleaned the battery terminals anyway.

I'm sure an alternator/battery replacement is in my future as I continue my restoration.

Happy holidays all

If you have an automatic as was suggested sometimes the shifter needs to be moved to get it to starting position.

Check the connection at the alternator and or the starter.

Should be it
