A new Noise
I just had a new manifold put into my l300 along with new gaskets and a blanking plate. After an ongoing ordeal with a sheared bolt and a leaking egr plate. Amazing auto did the work and their is almost no smoke coming out of the 2.5inch side exaust, More power and the new glow plugs help alot on those cold starts! Marty at amazing took it for a spin after I discovered the noise and said not to stress. Here is where the new noise comes in. Only when in gear and moving, more when excelerating I get a chirp/whine. It's pretty loud but the exaust is short and lound too. Ive read a few posts and i read from its a great noise to some and others my turbo is on its way out. It's my first time posting let me know if Ive missed anything.

You might be simply hearing your turbo winding up and maybe the pop valve releasing extra pressure. Normal sounds.
My old one had a 'cricket' sound when accelerating. :)

Re: A new Noise
Mardy would've told you if your turbo was failing. L300s aren't that quiet, pretend it's a new exhaust on a hot rod...

He did mention 2.5 " side exhaust. You will definitely hear the turbo now is what I'm thinking.

Re: A new Noise
Thats what im counting on. It's pretty bloody loud. I opened the passanger and rode for a little to listen. It's a high pitch and follows the pattern that would say its the turbo. Alot of the noise coming right from the turbo and not out the exaust.Sure has more power. I had a fix it before i went on a road trip and they JB welded it and smiled at me and said she will hold... Could it be that some Of the set epoxy has lodged its self into the turbine?

Re: A new Noise
Do you have a muffler or just side dump exhaust?
I bought my L300 with straight it was way to loud for me.... muffler is your friend and I added a flex pipe after the down pipe so the side exhaust did not crank on the turbo and manifold...
So hard to guess if it is a normal or not sound in text....

Re: A new Noise
Their is not a muffler as I know one. Their is a 3/4 of a meter section of the pipe that has a larger diameter but no oval shaped muffler.
