Hey guys, nice to finally be part of the club (almost). I just started my proffessional career as an environmental scientist out here in Calgary and for the first time in a long time I have some money together to treat myself to a new toy. Originally I was drawn to the Delica after seeing my first L300 - it was love at first sight. But after doing some considerable research and talking with a few of the reputable dealers on here (mainly Mardy from amazing auto imports) I decided it only made sense for me to go with the L400. After a little back and forth hammering out what I was looking for Mardy quickly found me a Delica I was interested in. A beautiful all black 1995 exceed. Put the deposit in earlier this week, now just waiting for my baby to arrive!
I plan to slowly 'camperize' the van over the next 6-ish months and then do a massive road trip from Alaska to Mexico in summer / fall of 2014.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the many hours I have spent on this forum reading old posts, searching for inspiration. I look forward to hopefully meeting some of you Delica enthusiasts in the future!

ooooo pretty.
Black is always very slimming.
At first glance I beleive your L400 late 1996 - 1997 Series II L400 not a 1995.....unless someone changed the hood, fenders and front clip on your 'Black Betty'....which is remotely possible. The one in your photo has a different nose clip and different tail lights than the Series I which was built till mid 1996
Take a look:
Series 1 L400 built from 1994 - mid 1996.

Series 2 L400 Late 1996 - 2007 (has 2 different headlight styles from what I have seen)

And there's the sexy D5 (2007 - present day) but sadly many years await before this one is allowed into Canada

@Big-Bird you nailed it. Here is a quote straight from the dealer "It’s a seven passenger van with captain chair on it double battery winter edition perfect for alberta weather. Has lift and flair facelift is the same as the 2005 to 2006 model with projector headlight".

Nice looking rig! I'm also in the environmental business here in Calgary! Is yours here in Calgary now? There is a very similar one at Pro-Active Auto right now...

No, unfortunately not here in Calgary now. Still hasn't crossed the ocean yet.

Also, what kind of environmental work do you do? I'm just finishing up a second internship to finish the degree off.

mainly industrial wastewater - for the railway. That's funny. I wonder whose the one is I saw. BTW if you need a good mechanic, Pro-Active has been great with me!
