New Delica Owner - in California - 1987 L300 Turbo Diesel
I recently bought an '87 (I think) L300 Turbo Diesel. Bought from someone who just started importing them from Japan. Super stoked on it, and kind of nervous about finding parts and people willing to work on it my area. So far it has been a lot of fun to drive. Having some A/C issues, leaking coolant, and I think I might need to replace the clutch master cylinder. Also, I want to replace the window channel for the sliding windows as they are shot. Seems like the Delica community is really supportive, happy to be apart of it. Can't wait to take my new rig out to Death Valley this winter.

Welcome. I just joined the community as well and am in Portland, OR - http://www.delica.ca/forum/new-delica-o ... 14797.html
The weatherstripping on my slider windows are also shot. I'll be tackling that next week and will let you know what I find out.

...and get ready to be constantly badgered. I've had my Delica for 2 weeks here and have been stopped about 10 times plus constant honks and thumbs-ups. Yesterday, someone flipped a u-turn in the middle of traffic and tracked me down in the middle of O'Reilly Auto Parts to inquire about the van ;)

That's for sure! Whenever I drive my L300 south I feel like a rockstar. I don't get quite as much reaction to my L400, but it's still there....and get ready to be constantly badgered.

Welcome. My L300 has been rock solid in the snow, ice, gravel, sand and mud. Love it.
Go get a Pyrometer to measure EGT's (exhaust gas temperatures) from day one. Best way to avoid cracking the head, and enjoy many many years of trouble free enjoyment with minimal repairs.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Been scouring the web for window channel and info on the ac of late. Finally decided to do the enviro-safe for AC. Not sure how pleased I am. Certainly colder than before. The window channel for the sliding windows is driving me nuts. Also, my miles per gallon are pretty horrid. Would love to figure out how to improve that. Thanks for the tip on the pyrometer... going to check into that.

I'll be passing through portland on my way to the beach next weekend. Won't be stopping though, trying to make it to Beachside from Vancouver in a day. I'll be looking to pick up a little yum sauce on the way home though.
