Hi John of Rocky Mountain Imports, and Butch of CVI, and all those in the Delica Community who contacted John to give him our info.

Just got home safely from Moab.

Thanks to John for talking by phone to the mechanic in Moab to diagnose the problem and give a part code, then going home to get the part off his spare L300. Rocky Mountain Parts rocks!

And thanks to Butch of CVI who also talked mechanic to Moab mechanic to try to figure out an interim work around.

Problem was a leaky automatic transmission fluid return line on L300, located at the elbow bend from the fluid reservoir at the base of transmission. Surprised more of us have not had this problem, as it is low down so able to be hit when off-roading. The brass metal part (too hot for rubber as by exhaust pipe) has a flared fitting inside which leaked. Fix: was a patch of teflon tape and o-ring at the end of the flare fitting, and careful driving and frequent checking to limp home. Solution: to replace the part now we are home, with part from John. I will post more details later so we all know what to look for.

Maybe the subject of a next Deli-Meet: Temporary Fix Mechanics 101.

Cheers Christine. PS my email not working yet, I messed up passwords and have to wait till Mionday for tech centre help.
