Removing side of console

Post by sigurross »

I have been hunting down my DRL module and suspect it is installed on the side of the dash console underneath the brake fluid reservoir (probably where those philiip screws are). Any tips on getting at it?

Thanks.

Just look underneath the steering wheel under the dash to the right. It will be under there.

Try removing the speaker grille and speaker, should give you plenty of room.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Most of us have never removed that side piece, all we need usually is to remove the plexiglass area around the guages, or the area around the stereo. Firesong is correct, as he always is, the drl is often at the base of the steering wheel, often a white plastic box about 2 inches by 1 inch, labelled in black printing Grote, with very skinny little wires coming out. Go to any parts store ie napa or lordco, ask the parts guy to show you a grote DRL just so you know what to look for.

Those 2 metal screws below your brake fluid reservoir are wierd, I have never never ever seen anything attached there. Since a DRL is rarely installed in japan, then when a bc dealer installs them it is put in an easy to access area, they would not remove the entire dashboard for such a small item which might need to be replaced sometime.

If you happen to be visit Burnaby, drop by our house and we can troubleshoot it for you.

The other way to find the drl is often at the fuse box you can see a spliced / piggy backed wire there. It's most likely the drl.
