Re: L300 transfer case seal leak
Ive got a simmilar leak, but i dropped the t case fluid while doing my front drive shaft u joints, it takes around 2 liters of gear oil, i just used synthetic 75w90 or whatever, i ended up using a syringe and a hose to inject the fluid into the case, it worked better than the pathetic bottle pump i bought.
hope this helps. im interested in the seal P/N as well, i will keep an eye on this.

Re: L300 transfer case seal leak
Go to "Delica Canada Technical"/"Delica FAQ Section"/"Useful Links for Vehicle Part Identification Purposes". Scroll down to "JDM Online Catalogue" and click on the link. Enter your VIN into the Mitsubishi field, click enter and it will give you all the stock OEM parts numbers for your Starwagon. It will also give you the date she rolled off the assembly line, as well. As far as Vehicle specs are concerned: Go to the "L300 Dedicated Category Reference Forum"/" L300 Shop Manual Downloads". Go to page 91 of the Automatic Transmission manual. Hope this helps... smiles.

P.S.: I've moved this thread to L300 Technical.

Re: L300 transfer case seal leak
Our van is having the same leak, just a few drips of clearish gear oil with some splashing from the driveline onto our exhaust etc.
I've looked up our van thru the vin parts finder thingy and found two part numbers Which should be the same for all of these transfer cases.
The dust boot seal p/n 30365 which crosses to a Napa 21108 (UPS) I've ordered one.
The inner seal (Rear transfer case output shaft seal) p/n 30384 Does not cross to a Napa number...?
I asked them to look up a 91' montero having heard they share transmissions. Im not positive they have the same transfer cases, can anyone comfirm this?
Napa listed the Montero's shaft seal and have it in stock but i forget the p/n.
They mentioned it measured 1/4" ID.. This sounded small to me, that's why I'm still investigating.
Anyone else have more luck finding part numbers for these?
Or maybe know a supplier who more can more readily cross these or mitsubishi part numbers.
Thanks a ton, matt&kim

Re: L300 transfer case seal leak
Well I have the parts in now, I have two seals, one is a Napa # 21108 for the rear output shaft seal and the other is a Napa #15805 the smaller dust seal.
I haven't had anyone confirm for me whether these seals are correct through cross reference, or if the Montero's transfer case is identical to the Delica's.
I emailed Butch at CVI about this but don't really like bothering him about this when it feels like there should be other avenues to finding this info.
Falco mentioned the parts lookup which helped somewhat and a cross reference link which I was unable to find.
Maybe someone has had these seals replaced and could weigh in with the correct part numbers?
I'll call Butch one of these days and get back here with what I learn!
cheers

Re: L300 transfer case seal leak
So, just replaced the seal yesterday, well i watched my mechanic do it i should say!
Here's a run down of what's involved: Jack up the back wheels, (hoist works wonders) make sure you're in neutral with the e-brake off (you'll want to be able to rotate the rear drive shaft)
Undo the four bolts and nuts connecting the driveshaft to the transfer case (the yoke) and you'll need to remove the ones on the diff side yoke too, to remove the shaft.
Once that is out of there you should be looking at the piece on the transfer case that the yoke connected to, it is removed with a 17mm (i believe) socket, then the unit should slide out revealing the splined shaft and pooched seal.
The part number i took off the seal we 15Z 50 68 9 AE. The Mitsubishi part number i had found earlier and crossed to a 21108 was wrong. The 21108 was a 1/4 inch wider than necessary.
I took mesurements to napa and picked up a 19569 which fit perfectly. A Napa 19610 or 19620 would probably also work as they should just be thicker across. I took the one they had in stock.
Once the seal is in (tapped into place with a hammer, gently) the splined yoke piece can be fitted back over and all can be reassembled.
Hope this helps!
There is a large nut in the center of the transfer case when looking fron the rear, above the level of the driveshaft, with this removed (17mm, again i believe) you can put an allan key in there and check for fluid level, my mechanic filled it with gear oil until it just started showing on the allan key when inserted and pointed down.
